Chad Gilbert, founding guitarist of pop-punk band, New Found Glory, has died at the age of 45 after a long battle with cancer.
New Found Glory was one of the bands of my pop-punk years. The older I get, the more I realise that no matter what anyone says, you never really outgrow the music of your youth. Those songs become part of your memories, your friendships, your road trips, heartbreaks and the soundtrack to entire chapters of your life.
Which is why this one hits a little differently.
Chad helped write some of the songs that defined a generation of pop-punk fans, myself included.
Rest in peace, Chad Gilbert.
