Michelle Branch Is Back, and So Is a Piece of My Youth

Every generation has its soundtrack.

For some, it’s The Beatles. For others, it’s Taylor Swift.

For me, a small part of it belongs to Michelle Branch.

Long before streaming algorithms told us what to listen to, there was The Spirit Room. There was Everywhere. There was All You Wanted. And there was that magical period in the early 2000s when Michelle Branch seemed capable of writing a catchy melody in her sleep. Then suddenly, she disappeared.

It’s a good time to still be alive in 2026 because she is back. Michelle Branch launched MBTV, a nostalgic, early-2000s MTV-themed project and livestream event titled MBTV Presents: Everywhere and Back Again — Live in Front of a Studio Audience, on July 14, 2026. The highly nostalgic intimate kick-off event took place at The Sun Rose in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. If you missed it, here’s the youtube video of the recording.

She also performed my absolute favourite track, “All You Wanted,” alongside crowd favourites “Breathe” and “Everywhere.”

When I was much younger, those were the songs I could play on the drums. Hearing them again brought back a flood of memories from a simpler time, when my biggest concern was getting the timing right and trying not to butcher a fill.

It’s funny how certain songs can transport you instantly back to a particular chapter of your life.

For me, Michelle Branch’s music does exactly that. Catch her on tour.
