This week’s theme seems to be strong women and the pursuit of triple crowns.
Fresh off writing about Lo Pay Jyue’s clean sweep at Pesta Sukan Masters, I found myself thinking about another woman chasing her own version of a triple crown. My mentor, a working mother as well, is currently alone in New York taking on our profession’s equivalent of a major title: the New York Bar Examination.
All the best to her. She deserves to be triple qualified.
As for me, I’m working towards what I consider my own second professional crown while being acutely aware I am behind in my achievements in comparison. But if there’s one lesson I’ve taken from Lo and my mentor, it’s that determination and hard work can take you further than you think.
Which brings me to my most anticipated release today. It comes from a talented woman, who works hard in churning catchy tunes and penning deeply personal lyrics.
Amy Shark’s soft pop has finally arrived. I dare say she’s my favourite Australian singer-songwriter, and I can’t wait to give the album a proper listen. So here goes:
